ESI Fine Art is a leading name in fine art logistics, specialising in delivery to exhibition sites with specific constraints: island locations, protected natural areas and places with restricted access.
Moving works of art to an island
The Villa Carmignac, set in the heart of the Port-Cros national park on the island of Porquerolles, imposes delivery conditions with no equivalent on the mainland. The absence of a direct road link, the environmental sensitivity of the site and the conservation requirements of the works form a triptych of constraints that rules out any improvisation.
For the Sea, Pop & Sun exhibition, which brings together nearly 80 works, including pieces from the permanent Carmignac collection and works by internationally renowned artists, ESI Fine Art handled the entire outbound logistics chain, from collection through to delivery on site.
From multi-site collection to the sea crossing
The assignment covered every operational phase:
- Collection and meticulous packing of the works at their various points of origin
- Packing matched to each type of work: paintings, sculptures, photographs, video
- Consolidation and coordination of the transport flows to the embarkation point
- Sea crossing to the island in compliance with conservation protocols
- Delivery and unpacking on site at the Villa Carmignac
The maritime dimension of the assignment, unusual in fine art transport, called for rigorous anticipation: weather conditions, securing of the crates, management of vibration and of the humidity swings that come with the crossing.
Return logistics planned from the outset
The assignment does not end when the exhibition opens. Group ESI will handle the return logistics when the site closes, scheduled for 1 November 2026, to the same standard. That continuity, with the outbound and return legs entrusted to the same provider, guarantees full traceability of the works across the whole exhibition period.
ESI Fine Art works in art logistics at every scale, from a one-off movement to a remote site to art transport in France and internationally.
As with our work on the International Paris Air Show at Le Bourget and Aircraft Interiors Expo, we manage complex logistics whatever the site constraint.
